“Hey Epic!” at HIMSS20

By Global HIT | Epic, HIMSS | 0 comment | 19 February, 2020 | 0

Will you be attending HIMSS20 Global Health Conference & Exhibition? Don’t miss out on the leading health information and technology conference.  Global Healthcare IT will be there to learn about all the upcoming 2020 healthcare IT trends.  We would also love to meet you there.  Email us at info@globalhit.com to schedule a meeting.

Our organization is highly interested in what Epic will be bringing to the table this year.  Epic Systems will be presenting its voice technology assistant.  What is this you may ask? It will be similar to Google home or Amazon’s Alexa which is activated by a simple “Hey Google/Alexa”. Healthcare organizations will soon be able to ask questions to a smart speaker for quick questions by just saying, “Hey Epic” and a follow up question.  Their goal is to eventually have hospital/doctor visits completed without the physician/nurse having to touch a mouse or a keyboard.  “Hey Epic!” will not be just for the physician but they also hope that it will increase patient engagement.  The patient will be able to ask when their next appointment is or to refill their medication.

Overall, this innovation should also help reduce physician EHR burnout and satisfaction ratings.   Physicians will be able to focus more on the patient rather than clicking on a computer screen.
