Arthritis vs. Baking Soda

Now what do you usually think of when it comes to baking soda? Just your ordinary house essential? Baking soda can be used for more than your stinky fridge, baking cakes or brushing your teeth. It can be used to benefit your health and it can be used as a cheap over the counter remedy:

Here are the top benefits of baking soda:

1. Arthritis

2. Heartburn and indigestion

3. Treat Kidney disease

4. Aide during cancer treatment to relieve any discomfort

5. Soothe bug bites and stings

How Does Baking Soda Help With Arthritis?

Drinking a cup of baking soda and water might be able to reduce the inflammation of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. Our body needs to make sure we have a proper pH balance and baking soda can help neutralize it.  It may help shift the balance of immune cells and boost anti-inflammatory cells.

“Paul O’Connor, a renal physiologist at Augusta University, and colleagues tested the effects that drinking a baking soda solution would have, first on rats, and then on humans.

Their experiments tell a complex story about how this salt provides a signal to a special kind of cell called “mesothelial cells,” telling them that the body is fine and not under attack, rendering an aggressive immune system unnecessary. Thus, harmful autoimmune responses are averted.”

Be careful when using baking soda! Too much can harm your health. Mix the right amount of water and baking soda together.  If you are interested in any of these remedies, please make sure to look up the correct usage amount.

Do you use baking soda for anything else? Please feel free to comment and share.
